I was surfing the net and as usual looking for some latest updates about the 2010 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. I went to Tennis.com to look for some latest news as its article entitled The Fan Wars caught my attention.

It headlined: Roger and Rafa engage in a friendly rivalry, but the same can't be said for their devoted fan bases. Steve Tignor and Kamakshi Tandon discuss the most familiar and most inexhaustible topic in tennis.

I clicked the link of the article in its front page and it directed me to the article entitled The Rally: Those Guys Again to read the content of the intriguing headline. To my surprise, I enjoyed reading the whole story.

The final ATP Masters 1000 event is over. The faster and slicker court at Palais Omnisports in Bercy produced some stunning upsets and great matches were on display, which includes the drama. Now that players a left Paris by displaying great tennis, they are heading into London for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, the conclusion of ATP 2010 season.

With the absence of Rafael Nadal, defending champion and No.2 seed Novak Djokovic was on the course of strong showing in Bercy after he failed to defend his title in Basel. But the No.2 seed wasn't able to sustain such kind of performance in Basel as he was stunned by local talent Michael Llodra in front of his home supporters.

Having said that, the BNP Paribas Masters title was handled by different hands since 1972. Only Arthur Ashe able to defend the Paris title, winning it in back-to-back years, 1970-1971. Former world No.1s, Boris Becker and Marat Safin won this event three times. Did I predicted it right? My pick for BNP Paribas Masters Champion.

Converting Word Documents to PDF Files

I was assigned to process Word documents and convert them into PDF files. But due to a large number of files, it is very tedious for me to do it one by one and manually. There’s no problem doing it manually, but considering the time constraints, it is not recommended to do it most especially when I am beating the deadline.

Since I have knowledge in programming using Visual Basic, I can develop a simple interface in order to process such task automatically. It is indeed a brilliant idea as it will benefit our department a lot, most especially with regard to delivering the service in a small span of time. The main problem was I don’t know where to start. Given the idea is there, I just need a simple planning before going deep into its technical aspects.

The Palais Omnisports in Bercy is set for the ninth and final ATP World Tour Masters 1000 of the year with nine of the top 10 are vying to win the prestigious title. This event will also decide who will be qualified in the ATP World Tour Finals in London with three remaining spots.

World No.1 Rafael Nadal withdrew from this event citing medical reasons, therefore world No.2 Roger Federer will benefit that withdrawal to be awarded as the top seed, followed by 2009 BNP Paribas Masters champion Novak Djokovic, who topped local hope Gael Monfils in last year's finale. With Nadal's absence, can Djokovic successfully defend his title in French capital after he failed to defend his title at Davidoff Swiss Indoors in Basel, Switzerland losing to Federer 4-6|6-3|1-6?

For every moment, I tried to analyze and/or manipulate small or large amount of data, I've learned new things on how things are going on. Data analysis, more often than not, is one of the few things I am more knowledgeable. From producing relevant statistics to designing a valuable report, I am very much keen on every single detail that must be displayed in the output.

It's been almost two years that I'm struggling financially. But as day goes by, I can see glimpse of hope that I can hold on and gives me enough strength to live life in simple way. But things still haven't change with what I'm struggling about. Honestly, I don't know how to manage financial matters as more often than not, I'm messing it. There'll be times or should I say most of the times, I have zero balance in my savings and nothing left for myself. It's hard to continue that daily life living when I know I have something to settle and I have nothing.

With such struggles, I never lose hope that one day I'll live life back to its simplicity, the life that I once owned and enjoyed. But some people say, "when it rains, it pours", seems like true. It would be okay if it's blessings but if it's problems you have nothing to do but cry.

Of course, only time can tell when they are going to quit playing the game they both love. But when that happens, the current generation will surely inherit the kind of game that brought these sisters at the top of the game. While they are around, we can still have time to witness how the Williams sisters outplayed, outrun, and outclass every opponents they faced.

When Serena Williams Escapes

Tags: | | |
Filed Under:
We all know that Serena Williams has a power that is too strong for the rest of her contemporaries. She often outplayed her opponents using her dangerous groundstrokes and she even won points not exerting too much effort using her serve. She rarely gave up matches and even she's on the verge of losing it, she ended up winning it.

Serena may not be like her rival Martina Hingis, which sometimes denied her power by constructing points so well like playing a chess. But above all, Hingis is very much not like Serena as she doesn't possess power, athleticism, and huge serve. Who could ever think that their head-to-head record is as close as 7-6 in favor of Serena?

It's just one of the classic example of contrast in playing styles displayed back when they burst in the scene as teenagers sending message to the rest of the field that they can dominate the game.

The great rivalry of Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, who played 80 times throughout their careers with Navratilova edging Evert 43-37, have teamed up and captured two Grand Slam doubles titles: 1975 French Open and 1976 Wimbledon. Though, it is an unfair alliance as they truly dominated the women's tour in their prime but it is great to see that they were able to combine their contrasting styles to succeed as a doubles team.

Last year's season of French Open, made buzz around the world when the King of Clay Rafael Nadal was stunned by the hard-hitting Swede Robin Soderling in the fourth round, in arguably one of the greatest upset in the history of French Open. Talking about the upset, history and record books were rewritten when No.2 seed Roger Federer played the greatest match of his life to capture the coveted French Open title that eludes him for years.

A month of warm-up events heading to this year's second Grand Slam, history was made again. That is, to the extent of the man that was stunned at the grandest stage of Roland Garros a year ago, Nadal. Yes, the King of Clay is back and he is stronger and fiercer than before. Within a month, he captures his six consecutive title at Monte-Carlo after 11 months of title drought, then he clinched his five titles at Rome. At 23 years old and 11 months, a win at Madrid finally breaks Andre Agassi's number of ATP World Tour Masters 1000 with 18 titles, not only that, because Nadal has been the first man to win three clay court ATP Masters 1000. With such performance, it is far from impossible not to win his fifth French Open title. Who can stop the reign of the King of Clay... again?

Who would have thought that a doubles specialist, a player outside top 20, and a player hasn't reached a final in any Premier event will emerge as a champion? My pick for the 2010 Internazionali BNL d'Italia Women's Champion.

NOTE: This is my own version of draw analysis on 2010 Mutua Madrileña Madrid Open. In this self-version of draw analysis, I will pick who I think will be 2010 Mutua Madrileña Madrid Open Women's Champion.

Six former Grand Slam champions are present in this event, namely: Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Justine Henin, Maria Sharapova, Svetlana Kuznetsova, and Ana Ivanovic. They will wrestle out to clinch the title in €3.5-million Mutua Madrileña Madrid Open on its second staging.

By reaching semifinals at Rome, four players had granted a first round bye, joining S.Williams and Ivanovic are former world No.1 Jelena Jankovic, who stunned S.Williams in three tight sets in a grueling clash to reach her third final and a chance to claimed her third title in that event, and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, whose great run pays off as she downed the trying-to-restore-excellence Ivanovic for a place in the finals.

A lot of tough contenders will try to give a former Grand Slam champions a real fight and a lot of tricky players will try to shake up the draw, a possibility of surprise winner might emerged. Former world No.1 Dinara Safina, since coming back hasn't show good results, is back to defend her title that ascend to the top of the ranking a year ago. Will she be able to pull it through and repeat such performance?

Rafael Nadal has been dominant in clay and at the age of 23, he captured his fifth title in Rome and with this win, he won his 17th ATP World Tour Masters 1000, defeating David Ferrer in the finals. This win equalled Andre Agassi's record of 17 ATP Masters 1000 shield.

Former World No.1s Venus and Serena Williams as well as Dinara Safina are back in action, all are coming off from their respective injuries that sidelined them for quite sometime. Safina played her first match at Stuttgart but losses her quarterfinal match against Shahar Peer.

Missing in action in this event are the Belgians, with Kim Clijsters is currently medicating her injuries and doubtful in the coming 2010 French Open and also, Justine Henin, who clinched her very first title at Stuttgart, after coming out from retirement.

The top 10 ranked players are all present in this event and with a long stories of injuries for most top players and some in-form players making their names, who will perform well in this event and be the 2010 Internazionali BNL d'Italia women's champion?

Rafael Nadal is back as the defending champion in the second ATP World Tour Masters 1000 played on clay. He has a 22-1 win-loss record in this event and with a win here he will have his 17th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 shield, equaling Andre Agassi's title record.

Roger Federer is also entered in this event since his loss to Tomas Berdych at Miami Masters. He is also attempting to win his first title here in Rome after runner-up finishes in 2003 and 2006 and equaling Agassi's record of 17th Masters 1000 shield.

Since Nadal is ranked No.3 in the world, he is in Federer's part of the draw. Which of the two top men player will be able to chase Agassi's record? Will Novak Djokovic be able to take advantage of this situation and try to win this event for the second time since 2008?

NOTE: This is my own version of draw analysis on 2010 Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters. In this self-version of draw analysis, I will pick who I think will be 2010 Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters Champion.

The clay court season has already begun! The ATP World Tour is in the third Masters 1000 tournament of the year and Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters is one of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event played on clay.

So, what can I expect from these tournament? World No.1 Roger Federer did not enter this event, therefore Novak Djokovic, the runner-up of this event last year, is the top seed, followed by the five-time defending champion Rafael Nadal, who is vying for his sixth straight title and looking for his first title since Rome last year, is the second seed.

This is Nadal's court, so how will other players get a fair share and a shot for a title in this event? Will Djokovic be able to solve the Nadal's puzzle? How about from the little-bit-slumping-lately Murray, will he be able to find his feet on clay?

Just got home! After long hours of work having a very busy schedule, it's nice to have a very good rest, right? It's a blessing that our office is walking distance from home. 25 minutes of walk going home is some sort of a relaxation as you can exercise, breathe some fresh air, and see different views.

Since nobody is at home yet, I need to cook our dinner.

Oh, my sister is already here! She's done cooking the rice and about to cook our entree this evening. But she was requested me to do so. After a minute of rest, I change my clothes off and went to the kitchen. Here's what I prepared, hope you like it.

I cook the food the way how it is cooked by many. Or if I thought that ingredients could possibly be mixed together, then I will try.

Have you ever tried to cook the Hawaiian Corned Beef? Yes, it's good right? But I want to share with you my own version of this food!

This is the second WTA Premier Event where Victoria Azarenka will try to defend her title. Serena Williams withdraw because of injury, as well as Dinara Safina and Maria Sharapova. Svetlana Kuznetsova is the top seed of this event and it won't be a surprise if Venus Williams be on top of them. The field in this event consists of too many youngsters. Will one of them performs well and breaks through or a veteran will dominate the field? Most probably but not quite.
