The 2010 WTA Tour Championships held at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex in Doha, Qatar has just been concluded. This will be the last year that Qatar will host the event as it will be moved to Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, Turkey starting next year 2011 until 2013.

A week of interesting round-robin matches, the top eight produces some high quality tennis they can offer to their fans. And after the battle all the way through finals, the 2010 WTA Tour Championships title has been clinched by the new champion.

Kim Clijsters
2010 Sony Ericsson Championships Champion

The 2010 WTA Tour edition has been so intriguing and interesting as it closes its season. With Serena Williams withdrawing her qualification for the championship to join her elder sister Venus Williams, the top eight qualified has been criticized due to its weak field. With four Grand Slam titles between them, Kim Clijsters with three and Francesca Schiavone with one, what's interesting with elite players were who will end the year on a high note?

Of course, with the number one ranking on the line and the huge amount of prize money, there's still a reason not to overlooked what's at stake. Ask Caroline Wozniacki, how does it feel that her reign at the top was almost temporary?

What so shocking was unexpected retirement by one of the fittest and best player on tour, Elena Dementieva? Can anyone tell that it is the time to retire to the sport while still playing at your best? Maybe not. But for Dementieva, that was the right time to do it.

She called it quits bagging the most precious title she ever considered in her playing career, her Olympic Gold medal. She may not have won a Grand Slam or fell short in her two-time trip at the Grand Slam finals, she will be remembered as the best player without a Grand Slam title. Good luck Dementieva, you'll always be a great champion.

With Wozniacki's win over Vera Zvonareva 7-5|6-0 and Clijsters' win over Samantha Stosur 7-6|6-1, the championship match will be a rematch of the 2009 US Open final. This will be their second meeting on the tour and with Clijsters winning their previous meeting, can she do it again to win the year-end championships for the third time in her career?

As for Wozniacki, will she avenge that 2009 US Open final loss to level their head-to-head record and of course, back-up her No.1 ranking with a major title outside Grand Slam?

Both players were on a high level, they produced high quality tennis to end the WTA season on a high leaving Doha fully satisfied by hosting the event. With Clijsters leading a set 6-3 and couple of breaks in the second set to go up 4-1, Wozniacki answered Clijsters' challenges to level the match 7-5. But it seems that experiences has a lot to do in winning matches, Clijsters seal the deal 6-3 to claim her third WTA Tour Championships, 6-3|5-7|6-3.

The car accident happened before the match has not been an issue to the Belgian champion as she bags more than $1 million in prize money. Such effort, she will end the year ranked No.3 with five titles. This will Clijsters' 40th title overall.

Despite her loss, Wozniacki made to secure the No.1 ranking in addition to her six titles captured this year. As the 10th WTA player to end the year ranked No.1, she already claimed 12 titles in her young career. Given this achievements, can she repeat it in 2011 WTA season? Is she ready to dominate the game? Can she stay at the top for a long time?

Prediction not yet needed. The 2010 WTA season is almost over. The 2010 WTA Tour Championships at Doha, the same old champion has been crowned—it's Clijsters!
