World No.2 Roger Federer has given a tough draw in defending his Australian Open title. The second round clash with unseeded Gilles Simon has been a real test as their match has gone distance. But Federer survived the scare and the earliest exit 6-2|6-3|4-6|4-6|6-3 at a Grand Slam since 2005. Meanwhile, No.1 seed Rafael Nadal has given an easy draw until he met No.7 seed David Ferrer in the quarterfinals where he was stunned in straight sets 6-4|6-2|6-3.

No.3 seed Novak Djokovic has racked matches and with an easy draw he extended his winning streak comfortably. He was barely break a sweat until his encounter with No.2 seed Federer in the semifinals. No.3 seed Djokovic stunned No.2 seed and defending champion Federer in straight sets 7-6(7-3)|7-5|6-4 to take a spot in a final against No.4 seed Andy Murray who defeated No.7 seed Ferrer in a close contest 4-6|7-6(7-2)|6-1|7-6(7-2) for his second trip in Australian Open final.

In the final, No.3 seed Djokovic produced another excellent and devastating display to thrash world No.4 Murray in straight sets, 6-4|6-2|6-3 for the second time. This win gave Djokovic his second Grand Slam trophy since he won his first three years ago in 2008 Australian Open by outlasting Jo-Wilfred Tsonga.

This win also prevented Murray from capturing his very first Grand Slam trophy and the first for Great Britain since Fred Perry won his last Grand Slam title in 1936. Murray will be going home empty-handed and now 0-3 in Grand Slam finals. Can he pull off one win in the three remaining Grand Slam tournaments?

This year's edition of Australian Open did not feature either Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer since 2008. Is the beginning of the end of Federer-Nadal dominance and the start of Nadal-Djokovic dominance?

The expectations are high for every elite player, as well as the level of competition. But Djokovic shows that he got what it takes to be a multiple Grand Slam champion.
