And the 2014 US Open Women's Singles Champion has been crowned! And it is defending champion, world No.1, and now, the holder of 18 Grand Slam titles, Serena Williams. The No.1 seed did it in a convincing passion. Did anyone thought Williams would choke? Did anyone bet Caroline Wozniacki could conquer New York and her best friend Williams? Did anyone expected the results right from the start of the tournament? Did I predicted it right? My pick for 2014 US Open Women's Singles Champion.

Top-ranked Williams routed No.10 seed Wozniacki in straight sets 6-3|6-3 in just 75 minutes. In fact, Williams never lost a single set in the entire tournament. She also never lost more than 3 games in a set. Does Williams experienced a mini-slump? The win is a great way to salvage her under par year. The pressure of defending all the wins she had in 2013 may take its toll as she never been past beyond fourth round in three previous Grand Slam tournamets. She was beaten in Australian Open fourth round by Ekaterina Makarova, in French Open second round by Garbine Muguruza, and in Wimbledon third round by Alize Cornet.

Disappointment has filled Williams year until warm-up event leading to this year's US Open arrives. But disappointment no more. This Williams captured her 18th Grand Slam championship trophy, to tie up with legends Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, who are both with 18 Grand Slam singles title. Now, Williams is four titles shy and within striking distance of Steffi Graf's Grand Slam total of 22. Can she reach it and eventually win more than Margaret Court's Grand Slam total of 24? Only time will tell.

In a tournament where top players were bowing out in earlier rounds, Williams never falter but instead getting stronger and stronger. She's too determined to win it all. And at the end of the tournament, when Wozniacki hit her last groundstroke long, Williams fell to her back, holding back tears, and still cannot believe of herself that she finally did it. Her emotions were different from the last one she won the title a year ago.

Her latest US Open title is her third consecutive win since Evert and sixth overall tying Evert. When Williams on a roll, no one can stop her. Even Wozniacki whose reviving her game that made her a No.1 player in the world for 67 weeks in 2010 and 2011.

"You're an unbelievable champion and an inspiration to me on and off the court. You definitely owe drinks later.” two-time US Open finalist Wozniacki said to Williams after the match. Well, it drew laughter from the crowd.

Williams will turn 33 this month. Her other rivals since she was 17 years old had already retired from competitive sport but she still has no plans to stop yet. Indeed, she wants some more.
