The 2010 Rogers Cup staged another season filled with scintillating tennis. After the history-making Wimbledon episode, most of the top 20 players entered in this event to be part of the tune-up for the upcoming 2010 US Open.

Rafael Nadal, the new world No.1 and two-time Wimbledon champion, is the top seed followed by No.2 seed Novak Djokovic. Roger Federer, the new world No.3 as the result of his two quarterfinal finishes in both French Open and Wimbledon, is the No.3 seed. Defending Rogers Cup champion Andy Murray is the No.4 seed, completes the list to lead the field.

Will Murray be able to defend his title, after his disappointing loss at Wimbledon? Did I predicted it right? My pick for Men's Champion.

Rain delays might cause this event to be halted for quite a moment, but it doesn't stop the talented players in the draw to brought us something to cheer for. Of course, we are not only surprised and shocked with some upsets, but we are witnessed those players who stepped up to level with top players.

As the draw was slowly trimmed down, the top four seeds made it to the semifinals to contest for the coveted Rogers Cup crown.

Nadal have been tested by Philipp Kohlschreiber but still found a way to escape in a three-set match 3-6|6-3|6-4. A huge challenge from Gael Monfils in the quarterfinals including a bagel in the second set 6-2|0-6|6-3, Murray showed that he is still the defending champion when he cruised past David Nalbandian 6-2|6-2. Federer met Tomas Berdych in the quarterfinals and in a close contest, Federer he got revenge of his Wimbledon loss that ended his run prematurely 6-3|5-7|7-6(7-5). And lastly, Djokovic sailed through the last four with an easy passage coming from Jeremy Chardy 6-2|6-3.

Will this be a preview of what we are expecting in the upcoming US Open? Or somebody will try to spoil the top four seeds?

As Murray took on Nadal, he was trailing the Spaniard 4-7 in their career meetings with 3-4 on hardcourts. But Murray seemed to be in control and found his range and comfortability in Toronto's Decoturf court, edged Nadal in straight sets 6-3|6-4 to be in the course of defending his title.

On the other semifinals, as expected, Federer was facing another brutal challenge from Djokovic. In their growing rivalry, Federer once again defeated Djokovic 6-1|3-6|7-5 to reached his consecutive years in ATP Masters 1000 Toronto final, facing Murray again.

A year ago had passed, but the result was not changed. With numerous rain delays, the weather might have affected each others plays in the championship, but maybe not Murray as he once again overcome Federer to win his consecutive ATP Masters 1000 Toronto title 7-5|7-5. This win puts Murray ahead of Federer in their emerging rivalry. Murray really masters Federer's play and seemed like there's no pressure in taking down Federer, outside Grand Slams.

Another big title was bagged by Murray and with the court almost similar to that in Flushing Meadows, will the 2010 US Open is Murray's Grand Slam breakthrough? Well, too early to say but for now Murray won the day.
