When I've read the news in Yahoo! Sports tennis column, that Martina Hingis might play WTA doubles after World Team Tennis season, I can't hold the excitement that I will be seeing her playing tennis again at the grandest stage. Is Hingis considering a comeback? Maybe but not sooner. But hopefully she will.

Currently, women's tennis is lacking, if not missing, the style of play that Hingis has - variety and finesse. So, it will be a good idea if Hingis do consider again a comeback.

However, the success stories made by Kim Clijsters and her fellow Belgian Justine Henin is interesting and indeed brings spark in the competition of women's tennis. Though, Clijsters will be playing at AEGON International and Henin will be playing at 's-Hertogenbosch after quarterfinal exit at Roland Garros, we can't deny that somehow these two former champions brings spice to the wide open field in women's tennis. The challenge is high and currently dominated by the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus.

As there's no final report out yet that Hingis will return in WTA tour, she plays World Team Tennis in full season. Well, who knows if she feels the environment as well as the pressure of competing again, that is far from impossible to happen. WTT may be a way or the stepping stone for Hingis to consider a comeback.

Playing doubles at WTA tour might be a good reason to start with, as she is a top doubles player. Playing singles at WTA tour will surely thrill her fans around the globe as her style of play has been surely missed. Yes, Hingis may not have the power of the Williams sisters and the majority of the women in the tour today, as well as the upcoming generation of players, still her ability to construct points well can do much damage and bring excitement to the tour.

Currently, the women's tennis is currently dominated by the veteran players and Hingis is belongs to the average age of the players dominating the game, that is, three-month shy of her 30th birthday. Hingis does not a possessed a power but tactical and technical skills as well as her variety of shots and finesse, it may not be the barrier for her to win another WTA singles title. In fact, Hingis has a fair record against some power hitters.

Surely, Hingis will be thrilled us again if she considers to come back. The tour needs her and coming back will filled up what the tour has been missing when she's not around, her tennis and her smile. Another WTA title will be great but her comeback will be a real treat for her fans. Welcome back, Martina!
